Small Group Re-Launch

 Hello small group peeps!

It's been quite a while since we've met, hasn't it?  Feels like ages!  Anyway, we've been pretty terrible about communicating next steps for our group, so wanted to let everyone know what was going on.

We're actually just around the corner from the beginning of our small group term.  We're going to have two small groups start meeting on Friday, October 5th - 24/7 small group, under new leadership, and a women's small group!  Here's some quick detail:
  • 24/7 small group - Alex Woo (alex@woohoopictures.com) and John Yasuda (jkyasuda@gmail.com ) are taking over as the new facilitators for 24/7, with a focus on relevant, topical, foundational Bible studies.  The new 24/7 will still meet on Friday evenings, but location is changing to Yasuda's place in the Inner Sunset.
  • Women's group - Christina Park (christina.parkie@gmail.com) and Caroline Shou (caroline.shou@gmail.com) will be facilitating a women's group, that's being spun out from what was previously women's prayer group.  They'll also be meeting on Fridays, currently planned for the Cole Valley area.
Alex and Yasuda have begun reaching out to see if people would like to serve as part of a formal "core" for 24/7, in helping with logistics and building the small group.  Parkie and Caroline have been doing the same, with most of their core established.  If you'd like to make a commitment to help build out either of these two groups, please contact them!  I know if can be pretty overwhelming taking on the responsibility of facilitating a small group and even just a little help can make a big difference.

What will Jeff and I be up to?  Jeff's going to take a break from facilitating to figure out how he wants to serve longer term and grow more in his personal walk.  I'll likely be starting a third group later in the year - my travel schedule for Oct will take me out of town too many weekends to start sooner!  There isn't really a co-facilitator or viable location at this point, so it will likely be a smaller group focused on the downtown area.  A few people have expressed some interest, so next steps are probably just to start meeting informally for dinners and such.  I'll also continue leading the Saturday morning prayer meetings, which have been pretty much the highlight of my week!  Definitely come out if you can!

Now that you know what the next steps are for the group, you're probably wondering how you should respond.  For the women, it's probably a tougher decision in having to choose between the co-ed groups and a women's group.  For all of us, I don't think there's really a bad decision here.  Ultimately, it's about prayerfully seeking out opportunities to grow in your personal relationship with God.  So make your decision and commitments based on how you feel you'll grown in your faith and how you'll be blessed so that you can be a blessing.  Feel free to reach out to Alex and Yasuda, and Parkie and Caroline with any questions!

Peace out,
Jason
